Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) is a meticulously reimagined remake of the iconic 1998 game, built on the RE Engine and published by Capcom for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Set in Raccoon City, plagued by a zombie outbreak, you follow two protagonists—rookie police officer Leon Scott Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield—as they independently attempt to survive and uncover the mystery of the disaster. The game combines intense survival horror with exploration, puzzle solving, and strict resource management: the inventory is limited (8-20 slots), ammo and first aid kits must be found or crafted, and the knife gradually wears out. Visually, the project impresses with detailed 3D levels, realistic animation, dynamic lighting, and damage effects; the third-person over-the-shoulder camera provides modern character control. The game has three difficulty levels (Easy, Standard, and Hardcore); in the latter, saving requires special ink ribbons, and resources are extremely scarce. Enemies are varied, from regular zombies to the unkillable Tyrant and story bosses; some enemies can pursue the player from room to room. Additional mechanics include boarding up windows for protection and an automatic flashlight in dark areas. After completing one storyline, a second one opens, offering a different set of objectives and narrative details; the true ending is available after completing both campaigns. Resident Evil 2 Remake has received praise for its faithfulness to the spirit of the original, its updated atmosphere, and its thoughtful balance between horror and action.
