In 1908-1910 Perrin determined Avogadro's constant. To do this, he observed the distribution of small gum balls in water using a short-focus microscope (Fig. 16.17). By focusing the microscope on one layer or another, it was possible to count the number of particles in each layer. In one of the experiments the following data were obtained: Data on the table.
