A block of mass 2.0 kg lies on a smooth horizontal table. A bullet with a mass of 9.0 g, flying at a speed of 800 m/s at an angle of 30° to the horizontal, hits a block and gets stuck in it. At what speed and in what direction did the block begin to move? Doesn't the apparent loss of its vertical component contradict the law of conservation of momentum?
