Lands of Gold significantly expands Age of Wonders III´s empire-building mechanics and opens up access to a whole bunch of new content. These new features are used in randomly selected maps, new scenarios and a new campaign in which halflings who have escaped death build settlements in a distant land, where unprecedented horrors await them.
• Mysterious City Upgrades: The magical treasures in your realm give access to new unique upgrades - the choice of location and specialization for the city becomes even more important than before. By building a city next to a crystal tree, you will gain access to an enchanted arsenal that will strengthen your armored troops.
• Empire Missions: Complete empire building missions ahead of the competition to earn unique rewards. This creates a new kind of indirect competition between players. An example is the Eternal City: build a metropolis before anyone else, and you will receive a unique monument to good and evil. The first player to have an absolute good or evil mood will receive a squad of the corresponding mood for free.
• Seals of Power: A new "king of the hill" victory condition: To win, players must capture and hold dangerous Seals of Power. Do not sit still: broken seals attract dangerous creatures from another world.
• City Defensive Upgrades: Each race has a unique defensive upgrade. A column of fire from the Draconians sets fire to all who dare to attack the city. The bell tower in the cities of people collects the townspeople, who fire at the advancing enemy.
