In fresh water intended for water supply, the concentration of calcium ions is 2.2⋅10–3 mol/l, and the concentration of bicarbonate ion is 1.3⋅10–3 mol/l. What amounts of calcium hydroxide and sodium carbonate are needed to reduce the level of calcium ions by a factor of four if 1⋅107 l of water is to be prepared.
