One mole of a diatomic gas expands adiabatically so that the pressure is reduced by a factor of four, and then contracts isothermally to its original pressure. The temperature in the initial state is T = 450 K. Find: a) the increment in the internal energy of the gas; b) the amount of heat Q given off by the gas.
