November 2008. NATO intelligence services report that for unknown reasons, the Russian military destroyed GORKY 17, one of the old Soviet secret cities. A year later, NATO captures the former Russian secret base built on Polish soil. In the completely destroyed city, excavators discover a laboratory complex. Having studied the debris, NATO decides to leave the laboratory as is. But soon after, the previously deserted streets of the city are suddenly teeming with hordes of grotesquely ugly creatures. Word soon reaches the media, and NATO can´t just destroy the place. So troops are ordered to seal the area off. No one can get in or out. A team of three NATO specialists, led by Canadian Cole Sullivan, is sent to investigate the horrific events on the ground.
