"Caesar in Gaul" is a standalone campaign for Total War: ROME II, dedicated to Julius Caesar´s war of conquest against the Gallic tribes. The campaign is based on Caesar´s Commentarii de bello Gallico (Commentaries on the Gallic War). Players can choose between four factions involved in the conflict: the Arverni (Gauls), the Suebi (Germans), the Nervii (Belgae), and Rome.
The "Caesar in Gaul" campaign covers a shorter time period (58–51 BC) and a smaller area than ROME II itself, but it offers a more detailed representation of Gaul and the southern coast of Britain.
Compared to the map of Gaul in ROME II, the "Caesar in Gaul" campaign features more regions and provinces, more factions (playable and non-playable), and a number of famous generals and historical statesmen whom the player will recruit or fight against depending on the chosen faction.
This war brought Caesar enormous profit and glory, making him incredibly popular among the Roman people. And at the same time, turning the Senate against him, overseeing the growth of his military and political power, which eventually allowed him to become Dictator.
The Caesar in Gaul expansion differs from the ROME II base game in many important ways:

Activation
